Season runs from March 20 to May 7. Practice is Tuesday and Wednesday from 6pm to 8pm; and Thursday from 6pm to 7:30.
Freestyle is the form of wrestling most practiced throughout the world and included in the Olympic games. In Freestyle, wrestlers mainly grapple from their feet with points being awarded for takedowns as well as any exposure of your opponent's back to the mat. Virginia holds a Freestyle State Championship for youth in early May. The Force will be practicing twice a week - Tuesdays and Wednesdays - from 6:00 to 7:45 in the Auxiliary Gym at George Mason High School in preparation for the youth state championships.
The freestyle club will be attending approximately two to three tournaments prior to the youth state championships. The date, time and locations of the tournaments will be announced by the first practice on March 20th. The fee for all weekly instruction from March through May is $195. Parents will be responsible for providing wrestling shoes, headgear and a freestyle singlet for their wrestler as well as covering any admission fee to the tournaments (usually around $10). Registration capped at 20 wrestlers.
